In 1887, a pioneer named George Geary traveled to the area and created a homestead for himself in the area that now includes the resort. One year later, he sold the land to Sam Brewer, an American, who then settles the land surrounding the Mountainside Golf Course. Brewer’s house still stands and is occupied by the son of Llyod Wilder’s, one of the most productive owners of the resort.
Several years ago, Fairmont Hot Springs resort received the distinction of being a “Power Smart Green Hotel,†which means that it is environmentally friendly and the features of the resort are designed to conserve water.
