Valley View Hot Springs
If you are looking for a location that is quiet and isolated, Valley View Hot Springs fits the bill. Located at the end of seven mile gravel road, this resort area is located 12 miles from a very small town in Colorado. The closest town with retail or grocery stores would be Salida, which is 37 miles away. When visiting this natural hot springs resort, it’s a good idea to plan ahead and bring any necessary supplies that may be needed because it is a long drive back into town for shopping.
Because of the area’s high altitude, which is 8,700 feet at minimum, the sun can be intense throughout the year. For that reason, it is recommended to bring plenty of sunscreen. The accommodations here are considered rustic and not quite as modern as other facilities but, if privacy is what you are after, this is the place to be. Each room has heat and electricity, but there are no televisions, clocks or telephones. Restrooms and bathing units are shared as two co-ed facilities. Camping is also available and can accommodate tents, campers or small recreational vehicles. A shared kitchen area is available for all campers and day visitors. Clothing is optional and there are no private pools or hot springs areas; all pools are located outdoors.
Children are permitted, but must be supervised at all times. In order to maintain its rustic environment, outdoor lighting is minimal after dark. Therefore, always have a flashlight handy for evening strolls or other outings.
While relaxing in total seclusion, whether it be an individual or getaway for couples, everyone finds the healing aspects of warm water, soothing atmosphere of the wilderness and quiet time away from modern technology to be a true rustic getaway.
